Celebrating Summer in Autumn. Glistening, dewy skin is the epitome of summer when combined with sweepings of bronze and gold. But gold and bronze eyeshadow has now began to bore me. Although different brands have slightly different formulas and shades of gold eyeshadow it all just looks the same. To modernise and create an editorial take on gold eyeshadow I used gold and silver leaf to add texture. The metallic sheen of the gold and silver leaf create dimension for the eye, enhancing the shape and size.
Crisp bright orange toned rep lips further enhance the summer vibe from this editorial look. I used MAC’s cherry lipliner to precisely line the outside of the lips. Then I feathered the colour into the lip and applied MAC’s retro matte lipstick, in the shade Lady Danger onto the lips and blended the shades together. You can leave the lips as is if you aren’t going down the editorial makeup road, but since this look was editorial I used the gold leaf that I used on the eyes in the middle of the lips to create symmetry throughout the look.
The glow level can be adjusted to your personal preferences, however personally I am a HUGE fan of highlighter as it just makes everyone look beautiful and their skin healthy. My favourite brand for highlighters/illuminators is Becca Cosmetics. They have so many different formulations yet the quality of their products are still incredible whether it is in a cream or powder formulation. I applied their liquid highlighter in the shade moonstone on the high points of the face under and on top of the foundation to make the skin look lit from within. Then I applied Becca’s Champagne Pop powder highlighter on top to increase the glow. Applying a face setting spray also helps to sink the makeup into the skin and create a more natural effect of the overall makeup, whilst also increasing the pigmentation of the highlighter. Setting sprays also make your makeup last longer. My favourite is the Makeup Forever Mist and Fix.
Have fun exploring your creative side with makeup.
